白神山地/ Hiking at Shirakami Sanchi

【活動について】
日本人学生と留学生合わせて総勢40人で白神山地の十二湖周辺を散策しました。白神山地は屋久島とともにその世界最大規模のブナの原生林のために1993年に日本で初めてユネスコ世界自然遺産に登録されました。原生林とは人の手の加わっていない林のことです。白神山地にはほかにもいくつかの散策・登山コースがありますが今回散策した十二湖周辺も例外ではなくブナ林が広がっていました。私たちが行った日は雨が少し降っていたのですが、ブナの葉はほとんどの雨粒を受け止めてくれます。また十二湖（実際には30ほどの湖がありますが）の内の一つ、青池はその名の通り水がインクを垂らしたように青い湖です。最初に青池を目にしたときは、日本人学生、留学生問わず皆がくぎ付けになっていました。

"The most memorable moment during the trip was on the way from Shirakami Sanchi to the onsen where our car stopped at a beach. It was really rocky so we got to climb on the rocks in the ocean. The sky finally cleared up while we were there so it was really beautiful. We were late to the onsen but it was worth it for that."
